The Silver Centurions are a loyalist Codex-compliant Successor Chapter that hails from the proud lineage of the honorable Ultramarines. This Chapter was supposedly created during the mysterious 13th Founding (known also as the 'Dark' Founding), under commendation of the High Lords of Terra and Chapter Master Ollonius of the Ultramarines, following a successful campaign to restore the Euridite Sector at the edge of Segmentum Tempestus. This highly organised Chapter is known to recruit its members on both Penal and Hive Worlds across the Segmentum Tempestus, picking troubled youths and young hive scum gangers to become Angels of Death. The 1,000 Astartes-strong Chapter is known to train their tactical squads like the ancient Legion Breacher Siege Squads of old, as well as possessing more Dreadnoughts than many other chapters.
The Silver Centurions are a fleet-based Chapter, possessing three battle barges and travelling in a vast armada that ventures throughout the Imperium from the Segmentum Tempestus to the Ultima Segmentum. The Pride of Brigandium is the largest Battle Barge possessed by the Chapter, and acts as both the Chapter fleet's flagship and de facto, mobile fortress-monastery, and is able to accommodate at least 1,200 Space Marines and one hundred thousand Chapter Serfs and other non-Astartes personnel.
Chapter History[]
The creation of Silver Centurion dates back sometime during M35 or M36, during the mysterious 13th Founding, known also as the Dark Founding. What is unique about this particular Space Marine Founding is that there are no reliable records that indicate how many Chapters were created during the Dark Founding or what became of them. But extant Chapter records indicate their earliest campaigns took place around this time. Ancient Imperial records tell of a great victory that occurred in the three-planet Euridite Sector that was earned from the bravery and sacrifices of 112th Auxilia Poenarius, an all-male special regiment composed of Imperial conscripts of youths and young adults. Upon achieving an Imperial victory over the rebellious Euridite Sector, the remaining 500 Auxilia Poenarius regiment were selected as potential Astartes Aspirants, and so received a new stock of gene-seed and Astartes implants. Those that survived this first ordeal then received the black carapace from the Apothecaries of the newly created Chapter, upon which whom 230 Astartes were born. Led by the new Chapter Master Vespasian Andronikos and Reclusiarch Paragytos, both of whom were appointed from the Ultramarines, the Silver Centurions were born. All members of the Chapter were mostly recruited from the various Hive and Penal Worlds across the Segmentum Tempestus - worlds such as Geheridan, Thesserus Secundus and Krotia.
The newly founded Chapter was raised from the most ruthless, cunning, and troubled youths taken from the most dangerous Hive and Penal World across Segmentum Tempestus. Each Astartes were heavily indoctrinated by the highly zealous chaplains which turned them from a band of misfits into battle-hardened disciplined soldiers, deemed worthy in the eyes of the Emperor.
The well-organised chapter, combined with their bloodthirsty nature and strong adherence to the Codex Astartes, became deeply ingrained within the traits of the Silver Centurions themselves. Each squad within the Chapter is a master of both ranged and close-combat warfare. In the latter years of M41, with the coming of the resurrected Primarch Roboute Guilliman and the newly created Primaris Space Marine, the Silver Centurions received the aid of 150-strong Primaris under the leadership of Tribune Primaris Konstantinos Paramarion. The 4th Primaris Company of the Silver Centurions were established and stood ready to aid their elder brethren against the Forces of Chaos and xenos alike.
Notable Campaigns[]
- Hrud Rising (980.M35) - The Silver Centurions, Wardens of Orask, and the Dark Angels take part in the task force to cleans the Hrud infestations. This deadly infestation had erupted across much of the Imperium at this time. With two of their three assigned sectors cleared, the Dark Angels' massive, mobile fortress-monastery, The Rock suddenly disappears along with their fleet. The Dark Angels leave the campaign abruptly to pursue their own objectives. Enraged, the Chapter Master of the Silver Centurions and Wardens lodge a formal complaint with the High Lords of Terra about the Dark Angels' behaviour. At the concussion of the uprising, there seems to be no action taken in response by the High Lords of Terra against the Dark Angels.
- To Kill A God (433-451.M37) - The powerful Chaos Lord +++REDACTED+++, claiming to be a fifth Chaos God, rises to power within the Orcuz Sector, and soon, several worlds rise in open revolt. All across the surface of three Imperial worlds, the hidden covens of Chaos cultists, aided and abetted by this Chaos Lord and his Warband, the +++REDACTED+++, attack vital strategic locations. Within a matter of months, several other worlds fall into internecine conflict, and soon, nearly the entire sector declare their secession from the Imperium. To compound the problems for the Imperial defenders, reports soon reach Segmentum command that several more Heretic Astartes Warbands were involved in the fighting. The High Lords dispatch multiple Adeptus Astartes Chapters, including the Imperius Ravagers, the Wardens of Orask and the 6th Company of the Silver Centurions, as well as a demi-Legio of god-engines of the Legio Nox ('Lords of Night'), and supporting Skitarii and Legio Cybernetica forces from a nearby forge world, as well as several Astra Militarum Regiments. The battle for control of the sector lasts for several decades, and is matched in intensity and ferociousness of those Astartes Chapters sent to quell the uprising, resulting in the death of millions of innocents as well as tens of thousands of heretic forces. The conflict culminates in a final assault upon the sector capital world of Khai-Mortanus, where the Chaos Lord and the bulk of his forces have taken refuge within the planet's capital hive city. The combined forces of the Imperius Ravagers and their Astartes allies strike like thunderbolts of a wrathful god, and finally kill the Chaos Lord and wipe out his heretic forces. The world is brought back under Imperial compliance within the day.
Chapter Home World[]
The Silver Centurion does not possess a home world but instead operates their chapter from a substantial Chapter warfleet, led by their flagship Pride of Brigandium. This great Battle-Barge serves as the Chapter's mobile fortress-monastery and its base of operation. This Battle-Barge can fit at least 1,200 Space Marines and one hundred thousand human personnel.
Chapter Recruitment Process[]
The process of recruitment for the Silver Centurions is nearly the same as many other Chapters. Recruits are chosen from amongst the street vermin, child conscripts, young criminals or bands of misfits and penal regiments across the Segmentum Tempestus. Recruits typically range between the ages of 7 to 16 years old. Amongst the most valued traits coveted by the Chapter in a recruit are aggression, psychic potential, martial arts prowess, excellent marksmanship, a psychotic-level killer instinct and a willingness to serve the Imperium on their road to redemption.
These chosen Aspirants should be able to master all forms of warfare from ranged to melee. After many years, the aspirant will be rounded up and forced to fight each other in organised gladiatorial bouts. If the Aspirant manages to survive, they will then ascend to become a Scout Marine and be given the first of many Adeptus Astartes implants as a gift from their Chapter.

The Silver Centurions adhere closely to the Codex Astartes, but their insignia and command structure vary somewhat in structure and use. Most notably, the conventions of title and nomenclature used by the Chapter are of marked difference from the Codex. The Silver Centurion have instead, adopted the ancient Terran Romanii legion ranking name as their hierarchy:

- Invictarii Legatus (Chapter Master) – The Silver Centurions use this term when referring to their Chapter Master.
- Tribune (Captain) – The Silver Centurions officer who is the equivalent of a standard Space Marine Captain and who commands one of the ten companies that comprise the full Silver Centurion military force.
- Tribune Primaris (Primaris Captain)
- Tribune Castorum - Master of the Keep equivalent, this senior officer is charged as the Chapter's second-in-command and serves as the regent of the Chapter's homeworld in cases where the Invictarii Legatus is off-world or has been incapacitated. This title is usually borne by the commander of the Chapter's elite 1st Company.
- Tribune Custos - Master of the Watch equivalent, this senior officer is charged with serving as the sentinel of the Chapter's fortress-monastery. He is responsible for the defence of his Chapter's base of operations and homeworld in the absence of the Chapter Master. This title is usually reserved for the commander of the 2nd Company, though the company that is charged with the garrisoning of the fortress-monastery is sometimes allotted to a different company on a rotational basis.
- Tribune Armamentarium - Master of the Arsenal equivalent, this senior officer is charged by the Invictarii Legatus with overseeing his Chapter's arsenal of weapons and munitions. This special duty is traditionally given to the commander of the 3rd Company.
- Tribune Praefectus - Master of the Fleet equivalent, this senior officer is deemed to have the most experience and greatest skill at planning and executing void-combats. He is given command of the Chapter fleet, and essentially serves as the Chapter's fleet admiral, commanding its flagship and all other space assets when they deploy for major engagements. This title is traditionally given to the commander of the 4th Company.
- Tribune Martius - Master of the March equivalent, this senior officer has the duty of overseeing the deployment of the Chapter's fighting strength. It is his knowledge of Chapter dispositions the Chapter Master turns to when readying for war. This title is traditionally given to the commander of the 5th Company.
- Tribune Sacrorum - Master of the Rites equivalent, this senior officer is charged with recording and preserving the martial traditions of the Chapter -- a bombastic, courageous warrior with unswerving loyalty to his Battle-Brothers. This individual exudes a sense of martial pride and fervour to those around them. This title is traditionally given to the commander of the 6th Company.
- Tribune Logisticae - Chief Victualler equivalent, this senior officer is charged with the responsibility of taking care of all the Chapter's supply needs, particularly those pertaining to food, drink and the other personal requirements of the Chapter's Astartes and human support personnel. This title is traditionally given to the commander of the 7th Company.
- Tribune Carnifex - Lord of Executions equivalent, this senior commander is the master of the Chapter's Close Support Company and serves as the commander of the 8th Company. He is brutal and direct individual, not so much given to glittering heroics and flaboyant challenges as short, bloody and efficient close combat engagements. Of all the Tribunes of the Chapter, the Tribune Carnifex is the most menacing.
- Tribune Tormentus - Master of Artillery equivalent, this senior commander is the commander of the 9th Company, the Chapter's Fire Support Company, and as such, is an unmatched expert in the tactics of long-range warfare. He is also the custodian of the Chapter's many technological masterpieces and archeotech, the most dangerous of which are brought to the battlefield in times of exceptional strife of direst need.
- Tribune Novitius - Master of Recruits equivalent, this senior commander is the commander of the 10th Company, the Chapter's Scout Company. He is a skilled veteran of hundreds of battles and a shrewd judge of character, easily able to determine what will bring out the best in the genetically-altered adolescents who survived their Aspirant Trials and transform them into true Astartes. As the leader of the Chapter's Scout Company, the Tribune Novitius is an expert in the irregular forms of combat that define the missions of Space Marine Scouts, including sabotage, infiltration and counterinsurgency.

He is capable of calling down a pinpoint bombardment from either orbiting fleet assets or static artillery positions nearby, engulfing the foes of Mankind in flaming destruction.

The Concilium Martialis exists outside the rest of the Chapter's regular command structure. Together this advisory council acts as the soul of the Silver Centurions, supporting their Chapter Master and steering the Chapter's temperament and decisions. Only those officers who possess the necessary qualities of strength, charisma and wisdom are ever allowed to serve at their Chapter Master's side.
- Argentus Praetorians - Known also as the Silver Guard, these are the elite Terminator-armoured personal Honour Guard of the Invictarii Legatus.

Combat Doctrines[]
Like their forefathers, the Ultramarines, the Silver Centurion rely on the holy dictates of the Codex Astartes, proving that they are an excellent in all fields of warfare - excelling at melee, ranged and armoured assaults. Their tactics are in keeping with those prescribed in the Codex and only waver in situations where Roboute Guilliman's doctrine encourages innovation. Because of this work's comprehensive and pragmatic teachings, this is seldom a problem. Even by adhering to the Codex in the strictest fashion possible, the Silver Centurion sacrifice little flexibility. They remain more than capable of responding effectively to any known opponent and of adapting quickly to the abilities of a novel one.
The Chapter possess more Dreadnoughts than standard Codex Astartes Successor Chapters, having at least 8 to 10 Dreadnoughts per company. Uniquely, for unknown reasons, these Honoured Ancients seem to be more conscious - able to communicate more clearly - and are able to enter a state of suspended animation less often than a standard Dreadnought.
The Chapter's tactical squads are well trained in organised 'Phalanx' formations with hardened combat shields and armed with bolt guns and power swords as their weapons of choice.
The Silver Centurions are known to aid any Inquisitorial force whenever possible.
Chapter Gene-Seed[]
Being descended from the Ultramarines, the Silver Centurions' gene-seed was created from one of purest of all the Primarchs and shows no sign of corruption or mutation. However, some gene-seed flaws have begun to show amongst the new recruits from the Penal World Marcrona. This manifests as a mutated Betcher's Gland that allows a Space Marine to spit a black, thick and highly flammable, but non-corrosive acid.

- Invictarii Legatus Vespasian Andronikos – The first Invictarii Legatus (Chapter Master) of the Silver Centurions, Andronikos believed that even a broken man could be reforged into a warrior worthy to fight in the Emperor's name. Andronikos was born on Terra to an ancient Claudian family with a strong ancient High Gothic culture. Legate Andronikos died during the Pacification of Tierra Gartica Campaign while fighting a Tzeentchian Lord of Change.
- Invictarii Legatus Maxidar Komennos – The Second Chapter Master of the Silver Centurions.
- Invictarii Legatus Kornelios Brigandium – The Third Chapter Master of the Silver Centurions. Died during the Battle of Gaugalia.
- Invictarii Legatus Septimus Agrippa – The Forth Chapter Master of the Silver Centurions, following centuries of faithful service, he finally fell in battle and was interred within a relic Contemptor Dreadnought chassis. He is now known as Venerable Agrippa the Awaken.
- Invictarii Legatus Julius Phocas – The Fifth Chapter Master of the Silver Centurions, he too fell in battle and was interred within a Venerable Dreadnought. He is now known as Venerable Phocas the Grim.
- Invictarii Legatus Flavius Midas the Silverhand – The Sixth Chapter Master of the Silver Centurion. Assumed killed-in-action while battling the Daemon Prince Krador the Butcher on planet Illiria Secundus.
- Invictarii Legatus Avner Nikephoros – The Seventh Chapter Master of the Silver Centurions. Formerly a vengeful criminal from the Penal World Aela Catabranum, Avner quickly rose through the ranks to Tribune (Captain) of the Third Company. He was promoted to the esteemed rank of Invictarii Legatus of the Silver Centurions, following the death of Legatus Midas the Silver Hand on Illiria Secundus.
- Invictarii Legatus Prime Alvertus Victarius – The Eight and current Chapter Master of the SIlver Centurions. After a centuries and 4 Terran years serving in Deathwatch kill team at watch fortress Khanduras, he return to be promoted as Captain of the 2nd Company replacing the recently deceased Captain Invictus Kor, but the Vigilus Campaign had cost the life of Legatus Nikephoros. Thus, in his vacant position, the tribunal vote for Alvertus Victarius as the new Chapter Master due to his experience, ferocity, and brilliance tactical stratagem.

Chapter Relics[]
- Armour of Stratagus - A relic custom power armor of the Silver Centurions, it was said that the armour was forged from a shard of the Emperor's own personal armour. This relic was first given to the first Chapter Master by the Ultramarines. This artificer-crafted power armour was then reforged over time, adding both Primaris Mark X Armor and the Terminator Adamantium parts to it, creating a solid tough armor with better versatility then the bulky Terminator Armor. The Armour of Stratagus' unique design features is an in-built, portable teleportarium devices that enables the Chapter Master to teleport performing a deepstrike against any foe.
- Fearslayer - A master crafted Thunder Hammer and a signature weapon of Invictarii Legatus Alvertus Victarius following his promotion as Captain of the 2nd Company and later on as Chapter Master of the Silver Centurions. The thunder hammer head material is forged from the xenophase blade he wield during his Deathwatch Service and coated with melted Xianyang Power Jade, bringing extra power when fighting Necrons or Daemon Engines alike. The thunder hammer emits a green thunder energy that bring additional shock damage to nearby enemies.

The Silver Centurions primarily wear light silver coloured power armour with dark blue on their armorial insets and poleyns (knee guards). Their shoulder pauldron trim and Aquila or Imperialis worn on their plastrons (chest guards) are gold in colour. The Silver Centurions tend to wear artificer armour that looks similar in appearance to the XIII Legion of old, similar in appearance to the ancient Romanii (Romans) of Old Earth. The Chapter uses white coloured squad specialist markings from the bygone Principia Bellicosa tactical doctrine of the ancient Legiones Astartes. They also utilise large white coloured Roman numberals to designate both company and squad assignment.

The Silver Centurions Chapter icon consists of a red coloured 'lambda' icon (which appears as an upside-down letter 'V' (Λ), standing for ancient Old Earth Grecian (Greek) city-state of Lacedaemon, home of the mighty and indomitable Spartans, some of the ancient world's mightiest and formidable warriors.
